Spring Workshop Series
The John Arcand Fiddle Fest has combined requests for off-season workshops with an opportunity to partner with the Perdue Legion for their 26th Annual Fiddle Contest. This partnership enables us to host the workshops in a fairly central Saskatchewan location, and work together with the community of Perdue to present an event filled day on Saturday, March 10th.
Fiddle Workshops will run from 1:00 to 4:30 pm and will focus on Old Time and Contest tunes. The Annual Perdue United Church Beef Stew runs from 5 to 7 pm in the Complex (only $8 for Adults, 12 and under $4 and preschoolers are free), and the day ends with the Mary Davies Memorial Fiddle Contest at 7:30 pm in the Perdue Legion, which will be an excellent place for workshop students to put their newly learned skills into practice –and great entertainment for those not choosing to participate.
For the workshops, we are pleased that Fay MacKenzie, who has been our Absolute Beginner Instructor at the festival for the past several years, will be here to instruct that class, and just like at the Festival, we will have a limited number of fiddles available for those of you who do not have one, but do ask that you bring yours if you can. John Arcand will instruct as well, and then registration numbers, who and how many, will determine instructors who will be added to the roster for intermediate and advanced.
Please share this information with anyone you think might be interested. We look forward to hearing from you soon. If you have questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
