Canadian Traditional Red River Jigging Championships
John Arcand Fiddle Fest

Since we added the Canadian Red River Jigging Championships to our programming, we have made many changes to our prize board and through this have been able to attract dancers from across Canada and further our desire to promote and preserve the Traditional form of this dance. Along the way we added the Pairs Competition to the Category Roster.  While this (Pairs) was a very traditional form of competition in the old days – we have now come to realize that our efforts to preserve the Traditional Steps must be lead by the Elders that know them and can pass them on to future generations.  We have therefore modified our prize board, deleted the Pairs Category and are honoring our Elders with a Seniors Category.  It is from the Elders that we will witness the Traditional forms, learn the traditional steps and be able to preserve the Traditional Art of Red River Jigging for generations to come.
