The incredible stylings of this man’s music leaves me in awe! I can not tell you the pride and honor it will be to share the stage with this man….                                                                             - John Arcand

ABOUT BRUCE

Bruce Molsky has been exploring traditional music over a range of cultures for decades, synthesizing and refracting them through his own evolving sensibilities to the point where they are transformed into a sound that is uniquely his. While most closely identified with traditional American old-time music, Molsky’s mastery of fiddle, banjo, guitar and song reflects everything from Appalachian soul to Delta Blues; the haunting strains of Irish music to the similar haunting, but toe-tapping Métis tunes – he even  throws bluegrass into the mix!

“It used to be that there was bluegrass, and there was old-time, and never the two shall meet”, jokes master fiddler Bruce Molsky. “Old-time music, was down-home, dance music, but while Bill Monroe drew substantially on it to create bluegrass, he also created a genre known for its showmanship.  I use this and all styles and mix them up in any performance I can”.

Recording artist Bruce Molsky comes at southern roots and blues on fiddle, banjo, guitar and song with great depth of spirit.  Known for his collaborations with musicians of other cultures, his wide-angled approach to traditional folk music has influenced a generation of players.

". . . brings a humble elegance and keen intellect to old-time music.”
-  Boston Globe

"Molsky plays tunes and sings lyrics that will move you in ways that might surprise you."
-   Allmusic Guide

"His urbane introductions reveal a musician who savours the source of the music ... and the effortlessness with which he melds fiddle and vocals ..."
-  The Irish Times

". . . old-time music's answer to Ry Cooder."
-  Minneapolis Star-Tribune
